Definitions of Terms Related to Guardian Technologies Home Environment Products
An air purifier is an appliance which removes contaminants from the air. These household appliances are beneficial to allergy sufferers and asthmatics, and at reducing or eliminating second-hand tobacco smoke. Air purifiers clean the air by passing it through a filter that removes particles.
An air sanitizer is a sanitizer that acts on airborne microorganisms. An air sanitizer is a device that is intended to sanitize the air, reducing the growth or development of microbiological organisms including bacteria, fungi or viruses on surfaces in the household.
Calcification is the result of mineral deposit buildup from your hard water. These deposits reduce your humidifier's mist output and cause it to work less efficiently. Mineral deposit buildup is obvious and occurs on the heating element and the tank walls. Humidifiers can make lime calcification and they can also spread white dust around your room. Decalcification is the removal or prevention of this occurrence.
Using dry heat to safely kill germs that cause RSV, colds, flu, staph infections, pneumonia, and more, without chemicals. Dry heat is a safe, natural way to kill germs instead of potentially harmful chemicals or steam. Guardian Technologies heat sanitizers kill germs on toothbrushes and nursery items.
A high efficiency particulate air or HEPA filter is a type of air filter that satisfies certain standards of efficiency such as those set by the United States Department of Energy.
Uses UV-C light to kill germs and fight odors. A light wand is passed over the surface of an object to kill bacteria and viruses
A form of micro-silver crystal technology which has been embedded in the water tank as a fung-static agent to fight the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the tank. Silver's antibacterial powers are being applied in a variety of household and textile products and applications.
Sound waves that are too high for humans to hear are "ultrasonic". The hearing range of many animals extends much higher than for humans. Ultrasonic waves are higher in frequency than the range of sound perceptible to the human ear. They have a frequency of 20 kilohertz or higher.
Using a metal diaphragm vibrating at high-frequency they produce a warm or cool mist. The sound vibrations propel moisture into the air. The water molecules that are produced are extremely small, about one micron in diameter. In ultrasonic humidifiers, the mist is almost immediately absorbed into the air.
One of the three types of invisible light rays, together with ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B, which are given off by the sun. Although ultraviolet C is the most dangerous type of ultraviolet light in terms of its potential to harm life on earth, it cannot penetrate earth's protective ozone layer. Therefore, it poses no threat to human, animal or plant life on earth.
UV Air Purifier
An air purifier that utilizes ultraviolet light to purify the air. Ultraviolet radiation renders certain micro-organisms sterile and harmless. UV air purifiers feature ultraviolet light that cleans the air as it passes through, eliminating the potential harm of airborne bacteria and viruses.
A UV air sanitizer that uses ultraviolet light to sanitize the air. The device emits a light that cleans the air and reduces the number of microorganisms present. UV air sanitizers are available in table-top, pluggable and as light wands.
A handheld light wand that you pass over objects which kills germs using ultraviolet light.
UV-C is part of the ultraviolet light spectrum that is filtered out by the earth's atmosphere. The "C" stands for the particular frequency of UV light that kills germs. These rays from the sun are absorbed by the upper atmosphere (ozone layer) and do not reach the earth's surface.
UV-C light is germicidal, it deactivates the DNA of dust mites, bacteria, viruses and other pathogens and in turn destroys their ability to multiply and cause disease. UV-C light causes damage to the nucleic acid of microorganisms by forming covalent bonds between certain adjacent bases in the DNA. The formations of such bonds prevent the DNA from being replicated and the organism is unable to reproduce. When the organism tries to replicate, it dies.
UV-C Sanitizing Wand
A handheld light wand which is waved over surfaces to kill up to 99% of bacteria and viruses. Also fights unwanted odors and allergens. Disinfection of items or surfaces can generally be achieved by holding the UV-C sanitizer wand over an object or surface for 20 seconds at a distance of approximately 1-2 inches.
