The Guardian Technologies™ PureGuardian® 100-Hour* Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier uses a metal diaphragm vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency to create water droplets that are expelled out into the room to help maintain the desired humidity level. An ultrasonic humidifier is virtually silent when operating.
Why should I use a humidifier?
People need a certain level of humidity to be comfortable. In the winter, indoor humidity can be extremely low, and the lack of humidity can dry out your skin and mucous membranes. Low humidity also makes the air feel colder than it actually is. Dry air can also dry out the wood in the walls and floors of our houses. As the drying wood shrinks, it can cause creaks in floors and cracks in drywall and plaster. Dry air also increases static electricity.
Does the product require regular cleaning?
Regular cleaning is recommended; approximately every 1–2 weeks (depending on use). When storing the unit, it is recommended to pour any excess water out and clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Let dry completely before storing.
Are there any wicks or evaporating pads to replace?
No. There are no wicks or pads to replace.
What is ultrasonic technology?
An ultrasonic humidifier uses a metal diaphragm vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency to create water droplets. Thanks to ultrasonic technology the Guardian Technologies™ humidifier is virtually silent when running, allowing you to keep it on while you sleep.
What is Silver Clean™ technology, and why is it used in your humidifier?
Unlike other humidifiers that grow slimy mold and mildew, the Guardian Technologies™ PureGuardian® 100-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier uses Silver Clean™ technology embedded in the tank to fight the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the water tank.
What size room will the humidifier work in?
Thanks to the adjustable spray feature, this humidifier works well in both large and small rooms.
What is a comfortable humidity level?
Forty to fifty-five percent (40–55%) humidity is considered within the comfortable range. Any humidity level below thirty percent (30%) is considered dry.
Therefore, if you live in a warm climate, you may prefer a cool moisture humidifier, while those who live in colder climates may prefer a warm moisture humidifier.
Do I need to heat the water first if I want to have warm humidification?
No. It is recommended to put room temperature water into the tank for humidifying. The Guardian Technologies™ humidifier will heat and maintain the water temperature for warm humidification.
Do I need to put in a certain type of water for my humidifier to work?
You can use either distilled or regular tap water. If you have a high mineral content in your tap water, it may be preferable to use distilled water. Since distilled water is likely to contain lower mineral content than most tap water, it will prevent less build-up.
How long is the warranty?
The warranty is 3-years limited. For detailed warranty specifications please refer to the warranty section in the instruction manual.
The device chimes when you select each feature. Is there a way to turn the sound off?
There is not an option to turn the sound off
Can you pick up the item by the handle on the tank?
This humidifier is not meant to be picked up by the handle on the water tank. Instead, please pick up from the bottom of the unit.
Why are there two different openings?
This unit was designed with two different options to fill the tank. Since this device is a tower design, it may not fit under a faucet vertically. You now have the option to turn it horizontally to fill.
Where is this humidifier meant to be placed?
This tower humidifier is meant to be placed on the floor. Please do not place on any uneven surfaces
Why does my humidifier produce white dust and how do I get rid of it?
The white dust is not harmful in any way, it is simply minerals from the water used to fill the humidifier. To avoid this, we suggest using distilled water to fill the tank, or we offer the FLTDC20 Demineralization Cartridge. When using this cartridge, we recommend placing it in the opening at the bottom of the tank.

Now, here is an impressive humidifier. Though we aren’t quite to the time of the year where a humidifier is a necessity, I was intrigued by this PureGuardian system. Excited to try it out.
This is the first humidifier I’ve owned that touts “ultrasonic” technology. Plus, I like the form factor. Most humidifiers are squat, rectangular devices that take a fair share of floor space—a bummer for our great room that has plenty of exterior objects in it already.
The great room is also the location of our fireplace, so its the best spot for a humidifier. (I’m never quite sure if our current humidifier is keeping up when we’re actively burning.) This PureGuardian model is designed for small to medium-sized rooms, and our great room is large—16’ x 20’—so I wasn't sure it would stay there. But for my initial test, it was a convenient place.
I took the PureGuardian out of the box and leafed briefly through the instructions. It has a removable water tank with removable caps on both the side and the bottom. This allow the tank to be filled either vertically or horizontally, depending on what works best for your water source. The tank fit vertically in our sink (just barely), so that’s the way I filled it.
Next, I placed the humidifier in a spot next to the fireplace (love its small footprint) and turned it on. It was at the medium humidity setting by default. Seconds later, a cool mist started to rise from the top. That surprised me. Every humidifier I’ve used before either takes a while to warm up before producing moisture, or—in the case of cool humidifiers—never has visible steam/mist. But with this PureGuardian model? Right away.
Another thing that surprised me? How quiet the PureGuardian was. No noisy fan or loud gurgling. Just mist.
Then I walked away and let it run. Our living room is attached to our kitchen, and on the pass-through between them I have a small hygrometer. As the hours passed, I noticed the humidity reading go up a degree or two, but otherwise didn’t give the humidifier much thought. It is easy to forget it is working because it is so quiet.
Roughly five hours later, my wife and I entered the kitchen and she said “Does it look smoky in here?”
I squinted and looked around. It was a little hazy, but it didn’t smell like smoke. “Wait,” I said. “That’s not smoke. It is mist! The humidifier!”
“Wow,” she said. “Better turn that off.”
In five hours’ time, the PureGuardian had filled both the family room (and again, it is a big room) and the adjoining kitchen with moisture. Will it keep up when we start burning wood? I’m confident it will.
Another bonus: less than a quarter of the tank was gone. So, it should run a whole day without requiring a fill, on the medium setting. I’ve no doubt it will go much longer on the lowest setting.
This PureGuardian humidifier seems to deliver everything it advertises. Lots of moisture, small footprint, long runtimes, and quiet. I highly recommend it.

Mist never came so easy.
The Guardian Technologies Ultrasonic Tower Humidifier is:
• Easy to assemble. Remove the lid, fill with water, place on the machine and plug up.
• Control panel/digital display that: (1) has a nightlight; (2) indicates when it needs to be refilled; (3) can be set for 4, 8 or 12 hours; and (4) mist control.
• While I have not needed to clean the unit yet, the directions seem super simple. It even comes with a brush to assist you.
• It is a convenient size – about 2 feet high. It fits conveniently in a corner. It is pretty modern looking.
• It is extremely quiet.
This humidifier is great and adds just the right amount of moisture to the air. It’s great for people with allergies or congestion.
