1. Is the App download free?

Absolutely! It’s free and only takes a couple of minutes to link your air purifier to the app.

2. How do you find the App?

The App supports iOS 8 +, iOS 10 and Android 5+. Once you have opened the App Store on your Smart Device, simply type any of the following into the Search bar: Guardian Technologies, guardiantechnologies, germguardian, Germ Guardian, pureguardian, Pure Guardian.

3. Why is this product considered “smart?”

It is WiFi and Bluetooth enabled, and you can control the system wirelessly with a smartphone. This product is enabled with Bluetooth Smart (low energy) Technology which enables a wireless connection over short distances using a low level of energy. When your smartphone is out of Bluetooth range, it will automatically switch to a WiFi connection that you can select during your setup process.

4. Can I set the app to turn up the filtration/fan speed when I’m away?

The Smart Air Quality Monito (AQM) detects the amount of particles in the air and will automatically adjust the speed of the purifier to optimize room air quality when set in auto mode!

5. How does the Alexa Skill work with the Smart Purifier?

With the Gi Gi skill and Alexa, you can now communicate with your smart Guardian Technologies™ products by voice. To get started, select the “Enable Skill” button in the Alexa App to link your Guardian Technologies™ account and discover your device(s). More information about connecting devices to Alexa can be found at http://amzn.to/291lR7u.

Note: Before using this skill you need to first download the Guardian TE mobile app, create an account and set-up your new smart device with our Guardian TE application. As you’re setting up the app, you will create a name for each device you’ve purchased. When using the skill, the name you have created for each device will be the name(s) used to identify which device to control.

When you’re ready to use the skill you will first tell Alexa to “open Gi Gi.” You can control several options on your device and you start by telling Alexa to “ask Gi Gi.” For example, to turn on the device that you may have named “Bedroom” you can say “Alexa, ask Gi Gi to turn on Bedroom.” To set the fan speed you can say “Alexa, ask Gi Gi to set the fan speed of Bedroom to 5.” Or, find out the air quality by asking “Alexa, ask Gi Gi the air quality of Bedroom.”

6. Why is the circle on the front of the unit changing colors?

The circular light on the front panel of the purifier is the Air Quality Monitor Indicator and it will change colors, indicating the air quality level in the room. The particulate matter value will be displayed on the control panel simultaneously. This chart shows how the number ranges reflect your air quality:

7. Do I need to replace my filter?

Yes. It is recommended that you change the Filter (FILTER B/FLT4825) every 6 to 9 months depending on use.

8. How long is the warranty?

The warranty is a 3-Year Limited Warranty. For more detailed warranty information please refer to the warranty section of your instruction manual.

9. What is CADR?

CADR stands for “Clean Air Delivery Rate” which indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by an air purifier. CADR ratings show the effectiveness of how efficient the air purifier is at capturing fine particles from things like tobacco smoke and plant pollens from the room.

10. How do I know when I should replace the filter?

It is recommended that you replace the Combination Filter every 6 months — depending on use — to maintain an optimal level of air purification. When the filter turns from white to dark grey or black, it should be replaced with a new one. If the filter is still white, it does not need to be replaced.

11. What is UV-C light?

UV-C is part of the ultra-violet light spectrum that is filtered out by the earth’s atmosphere. The “C” stands for the particular frequency of UV light that kills germs.

12. Why is UV-C light so effective?

UV-C light is highly effective at penetrating thin-walled germs like viruses and bacteria. The light alters the genetic structure of the germ, and they die.
